Toy Story, Shrek and Transformers will all be good bets for boys, with Toy Story 3′s Buzz Lightyear almost certain to be extremely popular. You can expect Transformers toys to be very popular this year, given the huge buzz surrounding both the films and the games. Characters from the Shrek films are also likely to be big, with the imminent release of Shrek 4 and huge popularity of the last three films, making any Shrek toys likely to be great Christmas gifts for him or her.

I can imagine RC helicopters, or any kind of remote control vehicle also being very popular with young boys this year.

As for young girls, I would look at popular children’s shows such as Peppa Pig, who do a good job making toys that fit the popular show. Other brands likely to be big in 2010 include Hannah Montana, Bratz and Dora the Expolorer, with the first two causing a similar buzz last year aswell.

Sylvanian Families have been consistently popular over the last few years, and that doesn’t look like it’s set to change for Christmas 2010. If you have a child that is slightly older, the Kidizoom Camera or GOGO Hamster both look like being extremely popular, and either would make a great Christmas gift for her.
