Every summer, we have a contest in our neighborhood, to see who is able to spend the least amount of money organizing a fun and exciting group event. Of course, all the usual things have all been done before, including a block party or two, pot luck evenings and a pool party.

Those types of events are fun, but they are not really extraordinary. This year we won the contest. I really wanted to come up with something different, and this year I found exactly what I was looking for, an event that was unique and different.

It paid off, as we won the competition by quite a wide margin, something that has not been done before, or at least not for a long time. We have to really appreciate all outdoor events in these parts on a nice summer’s evening.

I live in Syracuse, NY. So the darkness of the outside was great for an outdoor movie. Any outdoor event can often be a hit in these parts, and we have learned to make the most of those all too rare summer evenings.

I found a film suitable for families – that was easy – and I used a rented projector to play it on a bed sheet that I hung over the washing line. You can easily have an exciting neighborhood party with the help of a movie projector.

I am not good with technical and computer stuff, although even I found it easy to connect the projector to the laptop and play the movie. I would certainly do this again, as it seemed to be such a hit, although I might take it a step further and consider renting a big screen.

Of course, the movie evening was a big hit with my kids, and I plan to do it again sometime. Projecting the movie on a wall will make it seem such as we are really at the movies, so I am all for doing it again soon.

These days, there are a handful of actors who seem like they appear in every movie. One of those people is definitely Paul Rudd. This funny and likable actor has been around for at least 15 years, but it was only recently that his popularity exploded to new heights. Ask any 20 something year old girl who their favorite funny actors are you are likely to hear Paul Rudd as one of their answer.

But which of his movies are the best? Here are some of my favorite Paul Rudd movies of the past few years.

The first movie that I will mention is Role Models. This movie stars Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott as a duo of troublemaking adults, who end up having to enroll in the big brothers little brothers program in order to avoid jail time. Hilarity ensues.

Another movie that stars Paul Rudd that is definitely one of my favorites is Clueless. This is a classic 1990s film and a role that Paul Rudd himself probably is not proud of. He actually plays a serious role in this film, for a change.

Another movie that I definitely have to include on this list is Wet Hot American Summer. This movie is one of my all time favorite comedies and Rudd is only part of the reason why. If you like dry films focusing around summer camp in the 1980s, look no further.

Another fantastic film that Paul Rudd stars in is the recently released I Love You, Man. Rudd stars as an engaged man who realizes that he has no male friends to invite to his wedding and then finds Jason Segal. It is hilariously awkward and enjoyable.

One other great film that I have to include on this list is The 40 Year Old Virgin. This Judd Apatow directed comedy was one of the surprise hits when it came out. This movie also stars Steve Carell, Catherine Keener and Romany Malco.

Hopefully there are one or more comedies on this list that you have not yet seen. For a good laugh, I recommend them all!

To survive his injuries, and break away from his enemies, he develops a suit of armor, which protects and strengthens him. Iron Man is born.

SPEED RACER: The 1990′s television cartoon gets real actors. Just like The Flinstones, Speed Racer turns a cartoon into a movie with real actors. Speed Racer is a young man who loves racing. His goal is to win The Crucible, a major rally car race that had cost his brother his life. Against all odds, and the future of the family business at risk, Speed Racer partners up with his former adversary Racer X, in an effort to capture the championship, and save the family business.
