Many Anniversary Gift Ideas to Think About

without comments

Celebrating the anniversary of your wedding is an occasion that holds great significance for you and your spouse. Sometimes the pressure to find the perfect present for such an occasion can be overwhelming. You can relieve some of the stress by considering anniversary gift ideas and bridal party gifts ideas based in tradition as well as some with a modern twist.

There is a romantic element to choosing a combination of tradition with a modern edge. There are plenty of great anniversary gift ideas that relate to traditional presents that represent traditional presents according to the number of years you have been wed. This article details some anniversary gift ideas for some occasions from one to 25 years.

Of course, I had to include the first wedding anniversary in the list. The traditional present given on this initial occasion is paper. While it isn’t the most exciting product it can be quite romantic if you choose to write a special note for groomsmen gifts or include a meaningful image in the presentation. In addition, the modern wedding anniversary ideas are quite different. You can present a clock that represents your time together during this occasion.

The tenth wedding anniversary gift ideas that have a traditional flair revolve around two metals: tin and aluminum. Neither of these elements makes us jump for joy but you can find great items like aluminum watches and tin candle holders. Today’s wedding anniversary gift ideas for the 10 anniversary involve diamond jewelry. Boy, have times changed.

The 15th anniversary is interesting because the traditional present for this occasion is crystal. That is one of the wedding anniversary gift ideas that are pretty appealing. In addition, the new trend for the 15th celebration is watches. Finding a crystal watch would be a great challenge but it would also be perfect for this special occasion.

The traditional present for the 20th anniversary present is china but I would assume that most couples would have these items for personalized poker signs by this time. Today’s trend is platinum and there is no better present. You can’t go wrong with any anniversary gift idea that involves this precious metal.

The good news about the 25th celebration is that nothing has changed over these many years. You can get great anniversary gift ideas out of silver. This is the traditional as well as the modern present that represents this milestone in a union.

Choosing to find great anniversary gift ideas through traditional presents is a fantastic way to conjure some thoughts on the subject. Combining the traditional with the modern will provide a unique way to show that you have really put your heart into the occasion.

How to Best Find a Father’s Gift

with one comment

It seems that as years go buy thinking of gift ideas for birthdays and holidays gets to be more and more of a challenge. For me the most difficult idea is a birthday present for dad. My dad had worked very hard his entire life. He worked a full time factory job as well as farmed on the side to make bridal jewelry. This did not leave any extra time for developing any hobbies. When he retired from his job and rented out the farm land he did not know what to do with his time. My mother was excited that he was going to have time; however it is not easy to develop hobbies for the first time when you are sixty five.

When he was close to retirement I asked mom for ideas for a birthday present for dad but certainly not groomsmen gifts. She said that I should look for some type of hobby for him to get into. I called one of my sisters and we agreed that we would go to a local hobby shop together to see if we could find a birthday present for dad. There were many interesting hobbies in the shop, but none of them seemed to fit our dad’s interest our personality. My sister thought that he might enjoy putting together models. They did have models of tractors and farm equipment, but I just could not picture our dad sitting and gluing these pieces together. They had a set of whittling tools that were used to carve things out of wood. My dad had whittled willow tree whistles for us when we were kids, so we thought maybe he would do this. We decided that the whittling tools would be our birthday present for dad. The man at the hobby shop suggested buying some nice pieces of wood for dad to start with. He also showed us a book of patterns that could be used for ideas.

On the day of his birthday we had a barbeque at our parent’s house. I had wrapped the birthday present for dad so I carried it in and set it by the cake my mother had made. She immediately asked what we bought. She is worse than a child when it comes to surprises, she cannot stand not knowing what is in a gift. My sister and I told her that she would have to wait to see his wedding cufflinks. My dad gave us a wink because he knew that he would be able to open his gifts sooner if mom did not know what was in them. He was right my mom decided that dad he should open one of his presents before we ate our picnic dinner. My dad has always loved to tease my mom so he said he would open the present that she gave him. This prompted her to have him open all of his presents. He was very excited about the whittling tools. He cut a willow branch and made the grandchildren willow whistles. My sister and I agreed that our birthday present for dad was a great idea.

I’m in Love with my Digital Camera

without comments

I love my digital camera. I don’t understand it, but I still love it. I’ve had the camera for four years now, but I’ve only been using it over the past six months or so. This is because I ran out of the disposable cameras left over from my wedding and because I have a new subject to photograph. This brings me to the concern I have with my complex little machine.

We all hate red-eye. Well, I think we all do. The red-eye removal feature is available in nearly all digital cameras. My digital camera offers a setting that eliminates red-eye. This feature also seems to eliminate poses, spontaneous moments and smiles when giving groomsmen gifts as well. Even though I warn my subjects, “There’s going to be a flash before the actual flash,” I still find that people tend to look away or put the kid down just as the real flash is poofing. I have recorded a number of pictures of people exhaling with an “Okay, I can relax” expression on their faces. I also have a good collection of pictures of people walking away.

Forget spontaneous moments. By the time the second flash poofs, the moment has passed and I find myself poised behind the shutter (if digital cameras have a shutter) waiting for the next moment, which I will inevitably miss. I also have a series of pictures from moments just passed and pictures of moments I thought might happen but didn’t.

Then comes smile issue. The smile issue has an effect on even the most seasoned poser. There is a knee-jerk reaction to the initial flash that is directly reflected in the subject’s expression, usually centering on the strained smile such as my groomsmen getting their wedding groomsmen gifts. Digital cameras with the delayed flash often shock the subject into a blank stare. I can live with this. What vexes me is that I want a nice, smiley picture of my daughter. This is impossible with the double-flash. In the picture above, the child had been smiling broadly. Mommy presses the button and flash number one sobers her and I’m left with a baby looking at me like, “Why on earth did you do that to me?”

No more red-eye feature for me when using digital cameras during picture taking of wedding gifts. I had to consider what I really want out of my photos. What do I want; a smiling, red-eyed baby or a frowning, clear-eyed baby? I choose the former. From what I hear, you can fix red-eye right on your computer. I guess that I can start trying to figure out the Photoshop program I installed three years ago.

One of Many Outdoor Things to do at the Beach

without comments

Today, more and more people are opting for something a little different when they are planning their wedding. Though many people still get married in a church, some people are looking for something a little more in tune with who they are. If you love the ocean, there is no reason why you can’t have a beach wedding as long as you can afford it. Not only are they beautiful, they will be something that your guests will remember for a long time to come. There are a lot of things you must consider when planning this type of wedding, however, and you have to keep your guests and groomsmen gifts in mind as you plan.

A beach wedding will be a little more expensive if you don’t happen to live near the beach. If you have to travel, so will your guests. You have to be realistic when thinking about this. Will your friends and family be able to afford to travel to your wedding and wedding gifts? In most cases, you won’t have a lot of guests at a beach wedding, but you don’t want to have one if the majority of the people you want to be there won’t be able to afford the extra costs.

You also have to consider the whether when planning a beach wedding. Doing it in any other time than summer is a bad idea. Even in the south, there may be some days in the winter months when it is just too cold for a beach wedding. Take it from me; if your guests are cold and miserable, it is going to be something that takes away from the delight of your special day. You should plan your wedding on a weekend and tell the guest that if there is rain on one day, the wedding will be rescheduled for the next day. You should also have an indoor alternative incase you are pelted with rain on both days.

You also have to remind your guests that when they attend your beach wedding that they may have to walk on the sand for a bit. This can mean they don’t want to wear heels or anything that the sand will ruin. You may want to ask them to wear sandals or flip flops or even ring bearer gifts, and remind them that going barefoot might not be the best idea unless you have someone who is willing to rake the area before you set up for your wedding. The more your guests know, the more fun they will have at your beach wedding, and the better your memories will be.

The Bridesmaid that I came to be

without comments

My sister recently got married. It was the typical Catholic wedding that we celebrated in a famous church in my country, Philippines. After which we headed on to the reception; an al fresco dinner by the garden where live music and band serenaded the happy couple and their guests. I am claiming that my sister’s wedding is typical because it was the most common type of wedding us Catholics celebrates: Church and Reception and then a bunch of farewells here and there. But what made my sister’s wedding different, other than it being my sister’s wedding is that is was the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended in my entire life given that the preparation only took place in a span of two and a half months.  Which reminds me that I need to help her select her bridesmaid gifts for all the girls in the wedding.

As you might have probably guessed, I was my sister’s bridesmaid. It was the most perfect event of my life because it was actually my first time to be part of an entourage. Many of my friends became flower girls when they were little, as for me, I never had that experience.

Prior the wedding and during the preparations, I kept on daydreaming about how my gown would like and what my future husband would buy as groomsmen gifts. All I knew is that it would be in a mixture of silver and blue; my sisters’ favorite colors. I imagined how I will walk down the aisle and kept neither telling myself that I should not trip nor fall despite my gown being too long for me. I imagined too how beautiful that special night would be as my sister and her soon-to-be husband will bind their hearts as one.

Weddings bring about different kinds of emotions. It makes you feel ecstatic and nervous all at the same time. It makes you feel nostalgic and even detached sometimes. It brings you back memories of home and your childhood. My sister and I grew up together but are not really close and that’s why buying cheap groomsmen gifts for our wedding is not a good idea. Our relationship was all about the usual fighting and quarreling and a series of bullying on her part. She is older therefore she demanded respect from me as though I didn’t need any for myself.

On her wedding night, all the negative thoughts vanished. I was there as her bridesmaid and I walked and sashayed in the very long red carpet leading to the altar, she walked after a couple of seconds behind me and I looked at her with so much anticipation and love in my heart. All the memories we shared growing up will never fade; now there’ll be more memories to build… with our families and future children.

In Search on Bridesmaid Gift Ideas?

without comments

Bridesmaids are usually the closest friends that you have, those that you consider as the most special among your peers. It is only right that you would give a great deal of thought about the bridesmaid gifts for you would give them to your girlfriends who have stuck by your side through thick or thin.

The most enjoyable as well as the most luxurious bridesmaid gift that was ever given to me was when my friend took all of us bridesmaids to a day of pampering at the spa. It was a day of soothing massages and various kinds of spa treatments. Apart from being able to relax our entire minds and bodies, it was fun to be a group again and reminisce about the good old days. Think of it as a grown-up slumber party at a spa, complete with silly anecdotes and sentimental tears. However, if you do not have a lot of cash to spare for bridesmaid gifts, there are other fantastic pampering gifts that you could give your bridesmaids. Some alternatives are skin care products such as luxurious soaps, bath gels, and fancy lotions.

You have a lot of options when deciding on exceptional bridesmaid gifts since you are the person who best know your girlfriends. Majority of the brides give out the same gifts to their bridesmaids because it is definitely easier. If you want to give them different gifts, you could do so, provided that all their gifts belong in the similar price range.

When my sister got married, she gave her bridesmaids some beautifully engraved items. She wanted it that way to personalize the bridesmaid gifts and by the same toke, groomsmen gifts for the Best Man, ushers and groomsmen. She had the gifts engraved with the bridesmaid names together with a special friendship quote. She also did not have the gifts engraved with her name and her husband’s name because she intended that keepsake to be a token of her friendship with the bridesmaids.

Practically anything could be engraved nowadays at different engraving stores. There are actually plenty of websites in the internet that boasts of a vast collection of products that they could engrave to serve as your gifts. Glass vases, silver mirror compacts, exquisite pens, champagne glasses, jewelry boxes, quality jewelry, and a whole lot more.

If you have a lot of time at your hands, you could also make a scrapbook of your friendship. Include old photographs, movie tickets, concert tickets, or anything that means so much to the two of you. You should also take into consideration what your bridesmaid wants. Do not give her a cosmetic kit if she’s not into makeup or give her books when she finds them boring. Since this is a perfect occasion to remind them how thankful you are for their friendship, give a gift that reflects your feeling about them. Make sure that your gift is meaningful and something that they would cherish. Nevertheless, your friends would still love you no matter what your bridesmaid gift is, so just enjoy yourself on your wedding day.

Tips in Choosing Your Bridesmaid Gifts

without comments

Once you have decided to tie the knot, your wedding would involve countless planning and effort. Of course, you would want to express gratitude to all your guests for attending your wedding and for helping you out, particularly the ladies that you chose to be your bridesmaids. Your girlfriends are most likely among your most cherished friends, who have been there for you through good times and bad. Giving them fantastic and unique bridesmaid gifts would remind these women how grateful you are both for their participation in the wedding, as well as for their lasting friendship. Listed below are some tips when you are selecting your bridesmaid gifts:

First, stick to your budget. That budget is there for a reason and that is to ensure that you would not spend excessively on any wedding necessity. Review what your bridesmaids had spent on their dresses, makeup, hair, accommodation and others. It is only proper to give your bridesmaids extravagant gifts if you have assigned them countless tasks to assist you and if they had spent plenty of their personal money to help you out. But if you paid for most things and you did not give them a lot of bridal tasks, it is all right to get them less expensive gifts. Keep in mind that you would need to get a somewhat bigger gift for your maid of honor.

Second, you should determine if you would want to get the bridesmaid similar gifts or if you want to give them various gifts that are in the same price bracket. There are numerous brides who give out personalized gifts to every bridesmaid since it could be a little challenging to find items that everyone would love.

Third, you could give each of the ladies a gift that is based on the bridesmaid’s personality or her hobbies. For instance, if your bridesmaid adores movies, get her a selection of DVDs. If she is into sports, give her some tickets to her favorite games. You could give her a gadget if she is into electronics. And since you’re looking into electronics, they also make fun and cool groomsmen gifts.  When you give personal gifts such as these, it would make your bridesmaids feel that you know them very well and that you have given a lot of thought into what they actually want.

Fourth, you should allot a reasonable period of time for engraving your bridesmaid gifts, or for the guys groomsmen gifts, with their names or their initials. They would cherish your gift more if you make this gift more about them rather than more about you. Plenty of engraving shops could engrave immediately but there those who would need a few weeks.

Lastly, you could surf through the internet and browse through bridal magazines to give you excellent ideas about bridesmaid gifts. It is recommended that you should start looking as early as three months before your wedding day to make sure that you have plenty of time to decide. Remember that these are your best girlfriends and show your appreciation by handing them some well-chosen gifts on your most special day.
